Kactus Kilo 2023 Rules
Safety: We all know that riding a motorcycle has inherent risks. NIIT WIt, Matthew Hogan, and the Iron Butt Association can not be responsible for your risk. You will sign a waiver at check-in as well as give us emergency contact information. Additionally, you will show your helmet, closed shoes, drivers license, proof of insurance, and run through a light check with one of our staffers.
Additionally in the area of safety is the issue of speed and sane driving. Racing, stunting, aggressive driving, or driving under the influence will all be cause for disqualification. None of them are necessary to complete the event but all could kill.
Courtesy: Participants are representatives of NIIT WIt, Matthew Hogan, and the Iron Butt Association in that people will associate each participant's behavior with the group as a whole. Let's work together to make this a fun experience for all.
Qualification:
1. Part of our goal is to make this as simple and fun to do as possible. So, most of the targets are simple photographs. We are selecting targets that will be easy to get to and easy to photograph (Some will be more challenging). You must photograph your bike, your placard, and the target in the same photo. The angle needs to match the angle in the sample photo. In the case of riders with a pillion, one person MUST be in every photo. The scorers will compare your photo to the sample. It must match for credit to be given. If you cannot get your bike in the same photo, then you must take more than one photo. Your bike MUST be photographed at every single location!
2. All photos must be either given to scorekeepers on a memory stick or card OR be emailed to the scorekeepers BEFORE you can receive your certificate. You CAN finish by showing your phone or camera screen to the scorers then worry about sending the photos afterward.
3. For the Kilo, your mileage must be at least the mileage required to complete the route.
4. In the event you lose your placard, you can replace it with your face.
NOTES FOR THE RALLY OPTION:
Only those who are already IBA members may choose the rally option.
You must ride 1,000 miles or more and successfully complete 2 or more bonuses to finish. (500 miles for the 12-Hour option)
We will be looking for highest score AND best efficiency. Ties for highest score will be broken by return time.
Efficiency will be scored by points/miles=efficiency. Ties for efficiency will be broken first by highest score and secondly by return time.
Rally photos MUST be turned in when you come to the scoring table.
LASTLY: HAVE FUN!
